The name of the installation is “The Tsar’s Wife on Horseback” A tale of death and the reoccurring theme of mine, Transmigration.
The synopsis of my version of this event is as follows: after the deaths of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna and Rasputin, the palace becomes overrun with ghosts. Rasputin in disguise as a rabbit and the Tsarina, an aromatic corpse who is followed by fly’s wherever she goes.
The duo returning triumphantly to languish in sybaritic style.
I work primarily in wool, laboriously doing all the felting with a single needle. It’s a long process but it gives me the desired effect that I like; texture and movement in the material itself.
My installation will have its debut at “The Lynn Hanson Gallery” in Pioneer Square,
