The name of the installation is “The Tsar’s Wife on Horseback” A tale of death and the reoccurring theme of mine, Transmigration.

The synopsis of my version of this event is as follows: after the deaths of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna and Rasputin, the palace becomes overrun with ghosts. Rasputin in disguise as a rabbit and the Tsarina, an aromatic corpse who is followed by fly’s wherever she goes.
The duo returning triumphantly to languish in sybaritic style.

I work primarily in wool, laboriously doing all the felting with a single needle. It’s a long process but it gives me the desired effect that I like; texture and movement in the material itself.

My installation will have its debut at “The Lynn Hanson Gallery” in Pioneer Square,

This workshop will concentrate on deepening the narrative in your work. By creating a story or tapping into a memory, it is a focus that will emanate from the finished product and strengthen the sub text in your work. This is not a literal exercise. I am a fiber artist that constructs large installations made from single needle felted wool. In this workshop, we will be making a flat felted project. The objective is to take the artist out of their comfort zone and push further. Working in wool is a soft comfortable experience, an interesting contrast while delving deep into the contours of creativity.
These felting supplies will be provided: felting wool, felting needles, foam pad for work surface, and flat felt for the project itself.
Day 1 - Introduction to felting. Please come to the workshop with a story you intend to depict for your project. This does not mean a literal depiction but a strong vision you have in your mind which will be your reference and ballast for your work. We will begin by each telling a brief story of our pieces. We will then dive in and begin felting.
Day 2 - Working on our projects and addressing any issues that may arise. I will talk about wool sources and felting techniques.
Day 3 - Finishing up our projects and discussing the outcomes of our work. We will talk about how the pieces translated to the actual felting project.

He was always looking for the next big opportunity. Writing screenplays was his specialty, or so he thought. Arturo was very confident about his abilities. Let's just say he had more than a healthy ego about his work. The truth of the matter was, his writing was so-so. One could even say mediocre, but he kept churning out more dreck. Arturo was selfish and self-absorbed. When dating, he would sit over a meal and talk about himself and not ask one question of his dining companion. He never called his ailing mother except on holidays and only walked his dog Mickey on weekends. One evening in April, Arturo was killed by a freak lightning strike while walking Mickey. Arturo transmigrated as a heart. In life, Arturo was selfish. Now he felt open, giving and ready to assist others. He became a wonderful problem solver and would be the first to greet the other transmigrated beings. In his transmigrated life, Arturo reflected that if only he had been this benevolent as a man, life would have not been so hard.
